Short answer: raw-material cost per kg equals the sum of each ingredient's share of the formula times its price per kg. For example, 10% of an input priced at $8.00/kg contributes $0.80 to every kilogram. Cost per unit is that total times the unit weight in kg. This calculator does the math with live commodity reference prices from the Journey Foods Price Terminal, converted to USD/kg, and lets you enter your own supplier prices. Questions buyers ask
Multiply each ingredient's share of the formula (as a decimal) by its price per kg and add the results. That is raw-material cost per kg. Multiply by unit weight in kg for cost per unit. Add yield loss, packaging, labor and freight separately.

Data provenance
Prices are exchange reference prices from the Journey Foods Price Terminal, converted to USD per kg with standard factors: 1 lb = 0.4536 kg; a bushel is 27.2155 kg for wheat and soybeans and 25.4012 kg for corn; 1 cwt = 100 lb. They describe raw commodities (for example cocoa beans, raw sugar, SRW wheat), not refined ingredients delivered to your plant. Forecasts are model outputs, not guarantees.
